Mile Marker #9: Some Crossed Fingers and a Whole Lotta Gratitude

In which: Maggie dreams of the future (kinda) and talks about The Good Stuff™

I’m feeling better about my job hunt at the moment and have a couple of things potentially in the works that I’m pretty excited about, including a second interview today for a job I’m chompin’ at the bit about. My whole goal with working full time is to get back to living on my own, now that I’m no longer needed to offset rent for my brother.

So! I’m hoping that I get some kind of offer in the next four weeks that I could use to plot out a move. I’m looking at a community a friend already lives in because she’s sung its praises so much, and it would be nice to be closer to my sister and that whole crowd. Regardless, my main priority is just to get in my own space again and not feel like I’m living in a shoebox (a stinky humid shoebox with broken AC).

(No offense.)

Other than that, I did get pretty funny yesterday with my sudden math revelation about possibly finishing the book this weekend — I’m absolutely going to go for it. I think it’s a totally realistic goal. I mean, it would be a push, but I wouldn’t have to murder myself to get there.

Today’s a pretty busy workday and I have two long meetings so I should get to it, but before I go, I’m adding in a challenge set to me by someone in my big writing Discord. They asked me to “do some journaling of things you’re grateful for,” so here’s a nice happy list of ten!

Ten Things I’m Grateful For Today

  1. The internet, for connecting me with these awesome communities, mentors, and friends.

  2. My parents, for being endlessly supportive and lovely.

  3. My therapist and psychiatrist, for putting me on a good and healthy path.

  4. My siblings, for being total goobers (and also extremely supportive).

  5. Always having food in the fridge.

  6. My niece, because she’s a joy on this earth and I’m so happy she exists.

  7. Writing in particular and books in general for introducing me to new worlds and giving me the power to create my own.

  8. My writing cohort in YLWP, for being so motivating and intelligent and creative. (Special shout-out to my instructor, who continues to show up and show up and show up despite major tragedy.)

  9. My dog, Piglet, for healing the world’s ills with the power of her nose boops.

  10. I’m going to say the concept of possibility, for allowing me to keep dreaming and keep working hard toward my goals.

There’s some positivity for ya!

Til next time,
Mags
