Mile Marker #1: Book Bingo?

In which: Maggie introduces a new thing and talks about BINGO!

So I’ve decided to call my mini updates “mile markers” because this whole blog is travel-themed and I think I’m funny.

ANYWAY!

I joined an amazing Discord server last week-ish that’s all about writing. (I hesitate to give the name because I don’t want people hunting down my blog from there xD) They gamify many aspects of writing, and their incredible mod team keeps people active and engaged on the daily. I REALLY like this server.

My friend Cy brought me into the group, and what finally got me to ask for an invite was the weekly Bingo game they all play.

Basically, it’s a 5 by 5 Bingo square grid, and you get your team points anytime you get a bingo. Or if you’re like me, you get a bunch of points when you get a “blackout.” As of this moment, I’m three squares away from a total blackout. So, wahoo for my first Bingo game!

I woke up yesterday at 4:30 AM for absolutely no reason, so I started my workday at 5:30 and somehow made it through the day (and a 3-hour optometrist appointment and dilated eyes, yeesh). I went to bed at 10 and got up at 9 and I feel amazing today.

But point being, yesterday I was utterly too zonked to get any real writing done, but Cy bullied me into “just ten words” (which ended up being 19, because of course it did). But hey, that’s still a day I opened Scrivener and DID something, right?!

I moved my schedule around so that today is fully open (no meetings, don’t have to leave my house, the works). So, I’m hoping to knock out a ton of client stuff early in the day so that I can get some good good writing time in later. I’m 1,800 words away from “graduating” to the next level in the server (and joining an actual team!), and about 5,600 words away from my July goal of 30,000. I’m house sitting for my sister this weekend too, so I’m 99% sure I’ll hit that :)

Life is good today! I’m so glad I got some sleep.
